There are two standard sizes of LEDs – 3mm and 5mm. These are the smaller of the two. You can use either size in your projects. We prefer the 5mm LEDs when good visibility is desired, and the 3mm LEDs where space is important. The 3mm LED being smaller is ideal for small PCBs where board space is at a premium.
